The Chicago Tribune reported this week: “The Bolingbrook Village Board on Tuesday called on residents to observe National Historic Preservation Week next week…”
What does it mean to observe a week of historic preservation when your community is barely fifty years old? Here’s the full article: Bolingbrook Looks Ahead to National Historic Preservation Week. Of course, a Village with a “Historic District” dating to 1960 (commemorative signs and everything!) and a mayor with a 26-year tenure has a special kind of perspective on history.
It’s full of terrific irony (the reporter had a great time writing this), ending with the line:
Board members voted unanimously to cancel their meeting scheduled for July 10 because of a lack of agenda items in need of consideration.
(Apologies for the blurry photo.)
